Our archive and library are being relocated to exciting new spaces and we've been rationalising our collection. These books are from our shelves carry a Shakespeare's Globe library stamp. The books are in varying condition and would also make great props as well as interesting additions to your own library.
Straight from the Shakespeare's Globe archive, this set includes:
She Stoops to Conquer a play by Olivier Goldsmith. Hardback with blue bookcloth covers and gold foiled title to the spine. Published by JM Dent & Sons Ltd in 1953. This copy has a Foyles label on the inside front cover, as well as a label denoting that the book once belonged to Miss Dixon and Miss Wolfe, Tutors.
Shakespeare's Comedies by William Shakespeare. Softcover in a blue leather-like fabric with gold foiled title to the spine. Published by Collins Clear-Type Press.
Shakespeare's Predecessors edited by FJ Tickner. Hardback with blue covers and gold foiling the the spine and front cover. Published by Thomas Nelson & Sons Ltd. There is an inscription on the inside front cover 'W.P.W.Barnes K.S.S. CVA'
The Rivals a play by Richard Brinsley Sheridan. Hardcover with blue bookcloth covers and gold foiled title to the spine. Published by JM Dent & Sons Ltd in 1953. This copy has a label on the inside front cover denoting that the book once belonged to Miss Dixon and Miss Wolfe, Tutors.
Characters of Shakespeare's Plays by William Hazlitt. Hardcover with faded green bookcloth covers and a stamped title to the spine. Published by Oxford University Press. The inside front cover carries a torn Foyles label and there is an inscription on the first page 'W.P.W.Barnes [Seaton Aug. 1945]'
The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickins. Hardcover with black covers with stamped decoration. This book is in a sorry state of repair!
