Naomi Alderman’s The Power was captivating from beginning to end. We are presented with an alternate reality where women wake up one day and suddenly have “the power”. Everything that was once thought of as “manly” or “womanly” is completely flipped on its head. But even for the most feminist reader, this exciting prospect quickly spins itself into utter terror. Following the perspectives of an American female politician and her daughters, a male journalist, an orphaned girl turned deity, and the daughter of an illustrious British crime lord; readers are painted a complete picture of the impact this power shift has on all of humankind across the world. This is a book you will pick up and not be able to put down.
