First Folio Tea Towel
2023 will see the 400th anniversary of the publication of the First Folio, the collected works of William Shakespeare, first published in 1623.
Shakespeare’s reputation as the world’s foremost literary genius is due entirely to the survival of the First Folio. 18 of the 36 plays published in the First Folio had not yet been printed at all - without it, we may not have plays such as Twelfth Night, Julius Caesar and The Tempest. It is generally accepted that approximately 750 copies of the First Folio were printed. Of these, 235 copies are still known to exist, and only 40 of these are known to be complete.
Celebrate with this 100% cotton tea towel, printed with images inspired by the First Folio. This tea towel is available online and in store.
These coloured scraper-board images were made by Den Stubbs of Stubbs Graphic Design for the website www.folio400.com. They were inspired by wood carving designs made by the late Norman Gaches.
Made from 100% cotton. Our printer uses Global Organic Textile Standard approved water-based inks, which are less harmful to the environment.
Every purchase supports the work of Shakespeare's Globe. Thank you!
