Shakespeare’s Birthday
Although Shakespeare’s exact date of birth in April is not known, it is widely stated as April 23rd. As a result of this assumption, April 23rd is both William Shakespeare’s date of birth and his date of death, 52 years later. We are choosing to celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday all month with our April-long promotion both in store and online.
Our curated selection of gifts chosen to represent Shakespeare’s birthday changes annually as we create new and exclusive designs to celebrate the Bard. In 2025 we have selected some of our favourites, as well as our new and exclusive Twelfth Night Cakes & Ale range to celebrate the big day. After all, who doesn’t love a delicious slice of cake on their birthday!
Life of the Birthday Party
Coriolanus Have We No Wine? Exclusive Graphic
Inspired by the quote, our wine graphic is made up of bold white block text on a magenta pink background with a rich red swish of what appears to be wine across it.
Our exclusive wine graphic features the quote ‘Have we no wine?’ spoken by Coriolanus in Act 1, scene 9 of Coriolanus.
Twelfth Night Cakes & Ale Exclusive Graphic
Our Twelfth Night Cakes & Ale graphic features a mouth-watering image of a slice of vanilla cake with bright pink icing and a cherry on top which has been carefully painted by Meghan Cole to accompany the quote ‘Dost thou think because thou art virtuous there will be no more cakes and ale?’ spoken by Sir Toby Belch in Act 2, scene 3 of Twelfth Night.
Designed to accompany the announcement of Twelfth Night as part of the Summer 2025 season on the Globe Stage, this playful graphic is bright and light and fun, and perfect for both lovers of the play and summer revellers alike.
All About Shakespeare
I Love Shakespeare
If you love Shakespeare as much as we do, you will love our graphics designed specifically with the Bard in mind.
Cartoon Shakespeare Button Badge features an exclusive cartoon graphic depiction of what William Shakespeare probably looked like on a bright yellow oval background, giving the appearance of a classical portrait. Printed on a circular white button badge, this graphic is a fun way to show your love of the Bard whether he’s pinned to your jacket, or even your bag.
For the budding playwright, our I Love Shakespeare Pencil in cherry red, hand stamped with white text, is the perfect addition to your pencil case.
Shakespeare’s Timeline Poster was painstakingly created by Meghan Cole for the Globe Shop. This poster details all of William Shakespeare’s plays in order in scratchy black text, with important events of the time woven in, printed in red text.
Our exclusive graphic print Shakespeare Bag features a slightly more realistic graphic depiction of William Shakespeare in black outline, printed on an off-white cotton tote bag. This graphic tote bag is perfect for carrying around all your play texts with you when you’re on the go.
