Where is the online shop located?
The Shakespeare’s Globe online shop operates out of the retail office at Shakespeare’s Globe. All orders are fulfilled in London unless they are for print to order products and then they are fulfilled from other areas of the UK. If you send us an email or call the Globe Shop, then you will be talking to someone in the retail office at the Globe.
How big is the online shop team at Shakespeare’s Globe?
We are a small retail team and an even smaller online team and during the busy periods everyone pitches in to help with online orders. We are especially busy from Halloween through Christmas and during any of our promotions throughout the year.
We have a dedicated team of 3 people who ensure that orders are packaged and sent out in a timely manner and ensure that any replacements or refunds are processed quickly and communicated with the customer. This is also the team of people responsible for taking photos for the webshop and adding new products online so if you ask us a question about stock, we normally know the answer right away.
Is the stock selection in store different to online?
Most stock available online will be available in store, but please check with us if you are wanting to come in for one of our more popular items and we can tell you how much we have available on the day. The only items which are exclusive to the Globe online shop are our print to order collections and our original props, pamphlets and ephemera which is offered as and when it is made available to us.
If something is out of stock online, will it be available in store?
If something is out of stock online it means that it is out of stock in store. We have the same stock system and pull our stock from the same stock rooms for both the online and the physical store. If you want to be notified when a product comes back into stock, please make sure you sign up on the product pages and you will be sent an email as soon as we receive stock. This means that the stock would be available both online and in store at this time.
If you are wanting to buy an item in store and worried that we might not have much stock, send us an email and we will get it put on hold for you if we have it. We are quick to respond to our emails and check every day. During busier periods we may take a bit longer to get back to you but please be patient with us, we are working hard to get orders processed quickly and emails responded to within a couple of days.
Can I pick up print to order products in store?
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer print to order products for collection in store. We have a variety of print to order products and while most are produced within a day or two of the order being placed, some items are sewn and then printed in the UK. These items take longer for production, and we need to allow for the production time before these items are despatched to our customers. We cannot guarantee a date when these items would be available for collection in store, and we don’t have enough resource to contact customers ourselves once these items come in.
Will print to order products arrive with the rest of my order?
Print to order products will arrive separate to the rest of your order. Print to order posters and textiles are despatched directly from the manufacturer in either, Kent for posters or Wrexham, Wales for textiles. Our print to order products take more time to arrive than our stock items as they are only produced after an order has been placed.
How will my online order be packaged?
We recycle packaging from our deliveries of stock to use for our online shop packaging. This does mean that your order will not come in beautifully branded Shakespeare’s Globe packaging, but we hope that you will agree that it’s what’s inside that counts!
We are committed to recycling as much packaging as we can as part of our drive to being environmentally responsible, we collect packaging ourselves and are brought packaging from our wider Globe staff who have all come together to help us with our mission. By not buying in bespoke packaging, we are able to keep our prices lower for our customers.
We are able to write gift notes on branded postcards if you leave us a note at checkout, we are happy to write these out for your intended and include them with your order. You can also request for costing information to be removed from your order at checkout if you add the note to your order or send us an email immediately after placing your order.
Can I request that my order be gift wrapped?
We are not able to offer gift wrapping for our online orders as we are such a small team we are simply not able to keep up with the demand for this.
What couriers do you use for delivery?
We use multiple couriers for our delivery of goods shipped directly from the Globe Shop. For UK orders we send out using Royal Mail or DHL next day and for international orders we use Globalmail tracked or untracked (depending on where in the world you are), DHL Express, or Royal Mail untracked services for Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
